Hello and welcome to my first ever blog post! I am so excited to have you here and hope that you get some fun ideas for your next outfit.
Does anyone love wearing shorts but hate when it gets cold out and you have to put them away? I used to feel that way too but then I figured out a fun and easy way to implement them into winter even on the coldest days. All it takes is a bit of layering and the right texture of shorts to pull this off.
The first step of this outfit is picking the right material for your shorts. You would want to stray away from linen or denim material and look toward a wool, leather or corduroy texture. That will help create warmth and go with this time of year. I chose to go with corduroy not only because I love it but it is one of my favorite materials.
Once you pick your perfect short, you would then need to decide on a top. Long sleeves are key to keep the cozy look going but then there is color. I like to stay dark, choosing deep purples, olive greens and burnt oranges. For this outfit I chose to mix all off those in one with this multi color shirt which is great for the season!
I love the outfit with just the top and shorts but I felt like I was still missing something. Vests are a great addition when you feel like an outfit needs a little umph. They add texture and definitely bring any outfit to life. My little black crochet vest was the perfect addition for this look.
Now that we’ve covered all of the basics, lets get to the most important item that brings this look together! That is going to be the leggings or tights. There are so many styles, colors and textures to choose from which makes this part so great! I don’t think there are any limits here and you should go as low key or crazy as you want. I decided on an olive green pair of leggings that I would consider to be pretty chill but still make a statement.
When it comes to shoes for this look I would suggest a tall riding boot or combat boot. Heels are not really my thing but I know people who can pull them off with this so please go for it if that is your vibe. I feel like my classic black leather boots were the best fit for this and tied in well with the black vest.
While some may think this outfit is complete, I promise it is not! Accessories are so important and often left out. A simple necklace, bracelet, belt and earrings can really bring an outfit alive! A pair of aviators is also a key staple to bring a bit of edge to any look.
Where would one wear this outfit to you might ask? I personally would wear this look to a fun lunch date, a quick coffee run or cuddling up in the library with a good book. Wherever you may go just know that you'll look amazing!
That pretty much sums up my first blog post! I hope you all enjoyed this and got a little bit of inspiration for a fun new look. Thank you all for reading and have a free and chic day!
